Reliable Garage Door Repair Service

A garage door doesn’t fail at a convenient time. It’s usually right as you’re backing the car out, right after something’s hit it, or in the middle of a storm when the last thing you want is an open garage. When that happens, you need someone who answers the phone and actually knows what he’s looking at — not a call centre that logs a ticket and gets back to you in two days.

When you call Myaree Garage Door Service, you’re talking directly to Rod — a qualified mechanical fitter with more than 25 years’ experience — not a booking agent. He attends emergencies across Myaree, Melville, Attadale, Bicton, Applecross and the surrounding suburbs, and arrives with the parts most emergencies actually need.

What counts as an emergency?

Some garage door problems can wait for a normal appointment. Others can’t, either because your home isn’t secure or because the door has become dangerous to touch. Call straight away if:

  • The door is stuck open and your home or belongings are exposed
  • The door is stuck shut and you can’t get your car out
  • The door has come off its tracks
  • A cable has snapped or a spring has broken
  • The door was hit by a car and is jammed, bent or hanging awkwardly
  • Storm or wind has left the door unstable or dented
  • A loud bang or crack has come from the door and it now behaves differently

If any of that’s happening right now: don’t force it, don’t prop it, and keep clear of it. A garage door under spring tension can move suddenly and with real force. Leave it as it is and call.

If you need to get your car out before we arrive

Most automatic doors have a manual release cord — usually a red handle hanging from the rail near the motor — which disconnects the door from the opener so it can be lifted by hand. It’s genuinely useful if the motor has failed and you need the car out.

Two things matter here. Only pull the release when the door is fully closed — a door released mid-travel can drop suddenly if a spring has already failed. And if the door feels unusually heavy, won’t hold its position, or barely budges even after you’ve released it, stop. That’s almost always a broken spring or cable, and forcing it by hand is exactly how people get hurt. Leave it and call us instead.

What happens when  you call?

  1. You speak to Rod, not a call centre.
Describe what’s happened and what you can see. He’ll tell you honestly how urgent it is and roughly what to expect.
  2. He comes prepared.
The van carries the springs, cables, rollers and hardware needed for most emergencies, so the majority are fully resolved in one visit rather than needing a return trip.
  3. He inspects before touching anything. Even under time pressure, you get a proper look at the door and a plain-English explanation before any work starts.
  4. It’s fixed properly, not patched.
A rushed, temporary fix has a habit of becoming the same emergency again in a few months. We’d rather take the extra twenty minutes and do it right.

A Real Example

Adam, from Shelley, backed his car into his garage door — the car ended up jammed underneath it and the door was pulled off its tracks entirely. Rod attended the same day, worked through the damage, and had the door fully repaired within two hours. It’s operated without a fault since, and Adam described the cost as reasonable given the extent of the damage — which is how emergency pricing should work. No inflated “emergency tax” on top of an already bad day.

Common emergency repairs we handle

Doors off their tracks — usually from an impact, a broken roller, or a cable letting go. Often re-hung and running the same day.

Broken springs and cables — the most common reason a door suddenly won’t move, or drops unevenly. See spring and cable repairs.

Motor and remote failures — the door’s fine, but the opener has failed electrically or mechanically. See motor and remote repairs.

Impact and storm damage — bent tracks, dented panels, doors knocked out of alignment. Where only a panel or section is damaged, we can often replace just that part rather than the whole door — which keeps the cost down and the job quicker.

If your door’s problem isn’t urgent, our main garage door repairs page covers general wear and tear. And if you’d like to stop emergencies happening in the first place, regular servicing catches most of these faults before they become one.

Local and quick to respond

Being based in Myaree means genuine proximity to Melville, Attadale, Bicton, Applecross, Alfred Cove, Palmyra and Willagee — not a dispatch from across the city. It also means Rod knows the area: several of these suburbs sit close to the river, and the damp, salt-laden air corrodes springs and cables faster than it does further inland. If your door’s older and you’re near the water, that’s often part of the story.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast can you get here?

Within 2-4 hours during business hours, depending on where I am in Perth.

Is emergency repair more expensive?

Not artificially. You’ll get a quote before work starts, and the price reflects the parts and time involved rather than a blanket after-hours surcharge.

24hrs emergency repair

My door came off the tracks after a car hit it. Can it be saved?

Often, yes. Track and roller damage is usually repairable; it’s mainly when panels or the frame are badly bent that replacement makes more sense. We’ll tell you honestly which applies, and where only a section is damaged we can sometimes replace just that part.

What should I do while I’m waiting for you to arrive?

Leave the door as it is. Don’t force it open or closed. If you need the car out, only use the manual release with the door fully closed — never mid-travel.
